I spend A LOT of time doing this. Birding and documenting urban nature is my peace and my passion, but the day to day is becoming a lot of work. Aside from going outside (the fun part) I spend a lot of time interpreting, researching and writing posts, cataloging and editing photos, maintaining the site, creating events etc. As my following continues to grow (which I’m grateful for) I want to remain accessible, but there are only so many hours in a day, and some of them I will have to spend working a “real” job. 

What are you going to do with the money? 

I do not believe my birdwatching practice needs to be productive to capitalism. I am not trying to get rich off this. Right now, my goal is to have time to keep doing what I do, improve my gear, and keep my website up and running without taking money away from my personal household budget.
